Pharmacy Team
Health board pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are becoming more involved in the care of patients in General Practice. Having the pharmacy team working in our surgery provides valuable medicines support, a close link with our community pharmacy teams and allows our GPs to focus their skills and time where they are most needed for patients who have more complex needs.

The Community midwifes are based at the medical centre. As soon as your pregnancy is confirmed they will provide you with all the care and information you will require to have a healthy, happy pregnancy. During your pregnancy they will arrange informal Parent Educational Classes where mums and dads come together to share knowledge and experiences. The midwife’s booking clinic is held on a Tuesday afternoon. Antenatal clinics are held each Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. They will visit you at home following the birth of your baby.

A health visitor is a qualified nurse or midwife who has completed specialist training in children and family health. They offer support and advice to parents and carers about the wellbeing of your child from when they are a baby until they start school.
Your Health Visitor will provide you with specialist up-to-date advice and support on many health and wellbeing topics such as your own wellbeing after the birth of your baby, contraception, assistance with the various aspects of being a parent, your child’s development, childhood immunisations, infant feeding, weaning, toileting, sleep advice, behaviours, dental care, safety and minor ailments your baby or child may experience.
The Health Visitors are supported in their teams by a Community Nursery Nurse and a Healthcare Assistant. We also provide learning experiences for Student Nurses and Medical Students.
The Health Visiting team spend a lot of their working day on home visits so may not always be available, however we have an answer phone and will aim to get back to you as soon as possible if you wish to leave a message.
Our direct telephone number is 0131 449 8601.
